Rick From “Pawn Stars” Rants: Government is Destroying Us

I love the TV show Pawn Stars. I’ve watched every episode at least once. The show is on the History Channel, and is about a small business based in Las Vegas, a pawn store that sees people bring in stuff to pawn or sell. The show covers history, interesting facts, and shows the main stars haggle with other people over buying and selling. It’s an interesting mix of pure capitalism and history — it’s a great family-friendly show.

Apparently, Rick Harrison, one of the owners of the small business, is a “total libertarian” who called in to Mark Levin’s show to basically vent after being quiet for several years. He went off, compared America’s left to Lenin, and said that the Obamacare judges should all be impeached. I love it. Here’s one of the best quotes from the interview:

“I truly believe that if government just stepped out of the way, we’d have a trade surplus, we’d be energy independent, we would have full employment, and there’d be so much money out there that basically like it used to be in this country, there would be charitable hospitals all over this country… I’m a total libertarian.”

You can listen to the interview here. It’s apparently spontaneous, and Rick said he didn’t tell anyone at the shop that he was going to call in. There’s only so much a sane man can handle.

Small Business IS Under Attack

I run a small business. My parents run a small business. It’s all I’ve ever experienced. The red tape, the “special” laws that attack one business in favor of other businesses, the way taxes are set up, the new Obamacare insanity — it’s all specifically wired to make it difficult to run a business.

The more obstacles they create, then the more you’re pushed toward poverty or employee status. The more this happens, then the more dependence you’ll have on government safety nets. It’s a racket, and few are willing to call them out on it.

Remember,  there are 47,000,000 Americans on food stamps right now, and yet the government refuses to open more land to drilling, refuses to substantially lower taxes for businesses, refuses to stop blowing literally billions on foreign governments, and refuses to stop blowing up small 3rd world countries. These aren’t the actions of people trying to “fix” the economy. These are actions of people who are only motivated by power. People have to wake up before it’s too late.

Either way, I’m glad Rick Harrison believes this way. I was a big fan before, but I’ll be watching even more going forward. Whenever a celebrity actually stands up to tyranny, we need to reward them with positive publicity and show public support — maybe more will come forward.
